Day 1 – Mon April 16 – DESTINATION ISRAEL
5am Meet at Seattle Airport to check in for the Air Canada flight to Toronto. Leave Seattle at 8am arrive in Toronto at 3:35pm. Continue to Tel Aviv at 4:40pm flying from Toronto on a direct, nonstop Air Canada flight, meals served on board.
Day 2 – Tue April 17 – WELCOME TO ISRAEL
Arrive in Tel Aviv at 10:05am. Meet your tour guide. Today you experience the vibrant essence of modern Israel as you witness the fulfillment of prophecy while participating in Israel’s Independence Day celebrations. Bible in hand visit Naot Keddumim a Biblical Botanical Garden. En route to Jerusalem stop for the first view of Jerusalem at Nebi Samuel proposed burial site of the Prophet Samuel. The remainder of the day is at leisure. Join throngs of Israelis on the streets of Jerusalem to celebrate Israel’s Independence day and rejoice in the fulfillment of prophecy. 1 night Leonardo hotel Jerusalem (Dinner)
Day 3 – Wed April 18 – FROM JERUSALEM TO THE GALILEE
Take a unique jeep tour along the “Burma Road” the very route discovered in 1948 and used to circumvent the Egyptian, Jordanian and Arab siege of Jerusalem ultimately opening the road to Jerusalem and securing Jewish presence in Jerusalem, Israel’s eternal capital. Travel north through the Plain of Sharon on the ancient route which linked Egypt and Babylon known as the Via Maris. Stop at Caesarea Maritima, the Roman capital and the largest port in the Mediterranean built by King Herod the Great. Here Pontius Pilate had his seat; Cornelius lived and was baptized (Acts 10); Paul embarked to Tarsus (Acts 9:30) and Philip preached (Acts 8:40). Visit the Roman Theatre, the Hippodrome, and the Crusader City. Remainder of the day is at leisure. Walk on the beach and bathe in the Mediterranean Sea. Day 4 – Thurs April 19 – MOUNT CARMEL & GALILEE
Visit Muhraka the “burned place” on Mount Carmel where Elijah confronted the 450 prophets of Baal (1 Kings 18:30). Drive along the Jezreel Valley to Megiddo one of King Solomon’s fortified “City Kingdoms” (1 Kings 9:15; 10:26), where the book of revelations will come to life at the site of the epic Armageddon – with impressive ruins of 21 layers of settlement. Continue to Zippori Sephorris which Josephus Flavius described as “the ornament of all Galilee.” Later seat of the Sanhedrin in Rabbi Judah Hanasi day it is here where he redacted the Mishnah in 220 CE. Stop on Mt Arbel (Arbala) to enjoy an unparalleled view of the Sea of Galilee and the area of Jesus’ ministry.3 nights Ramot Resort hotel Golan Heights (Breakfast & dinner)
Day 5 – Fri April 20 – JEWELS OF JESUS’ MINISTRY
Following the tradition of the “fishermen” disciples, sail on the Sea of Galilee with time for meditation and prayer. View the famous ancient boat from the time of Jesus. Visit sites central to Jesus’ Ministry – starting at Chorazin with a unique ancient synagogue. Proceed to Mt Beatitudes where Jesus delivered the famous “Sermon On The Mount” (Matt.5). Time permitting walk down the Mt. Stop at the Church of The Primacy of Peter (Tabgha) on the shore of the Sea of Galilee. Continue to Kfar Nahum Capernaum center of Jesus’ Ministry in the Galilee and the site of many of his miracles (Mark 2:4; Matt.8:5; 9). See the remains of St Peter’s (mother in law’s) home and the ancient synagogue where Jesus taught and worshipped (Mark 1:21; Luke 4:31). End the day at Yardenit with Baptism ceremonies in the Jordan River. (Breakfast & dinner)
Day 6 – Sat April 21 – GALILEE OLD AND NEW TESTAMENT
Travel north to Dan, visit the nature reserve and ancient site including a mud brick gate from the time of Abraham (Genesis 14: 14). Continue to Banias to visit Caesarea Philippi the Northern extent of Jesus’ Ministry, where Jesus asked, “Who do men say I am?” Travel across the Golan Heights stop to reflect on current events and the ferocious battle that took place in the Valley of Tears Oct 1973. Travel south to Bethsaida where Jesus performed several miracles (Mark 8:22-26; Luke 9:10), known as the birthplace of the Apostles Peter, Andrew and Philip. Chorazin, Bethsaida and Kfar Nahum are the three villages Jesus Prophesied over because “they had not changed their ways” (Matt11:20). Evening teaching. (Breakfast & dinner)
Day 7 – Sun April 22 – GALILEE AND ON THE ROAD TO JERUSALEM
Spend the morning at leisure at the resort hotel with time to relax, find time with GOD and appreciate your creator. Travel south, stop to visit Beit Shean the ancient city where the body of King Saul and his sons were placed on the walls by the Philistines (1 Samuel 31:10) later known as Scythopolis, capital of Decapolis. For those who are able to, are fit, and in good shape – view the impressive archaeological excavation from the top of the ancient Tel. Drive through the Jordan Valley, where the desert now blooms with flowers and vegetation of every description (Isaiah 35:1-2). Stop at Qasr Al Yahud where tradition places John baptizing Jesus. Then ascend through the Judean Desert Wilderness to the Holy City – golden Jerusalem. Stop on Mount Scopus for a panoramic view of Jerusalem. 6 nights Dan Panorama hotel Jerusalem (Breakfast & dinner)
Day 8 – Mon April 23 – JERUSALEM
Start the day in David’s City including Hezekiah’s or the Canaanite Tunnel and the Pool of Siloam. Enter the Old City – stop to visit the Herodian Mansions to learn more about quality of life in Jesus’ day in the Holy City. Visit the Davidson Museum. Continue through the Southern Wall Archaeological Park to see the impressive excavations along the South Western Wall of the Temple Mount and to stand on the very same ancient steps that Jesus and the disciples used 2000 years ago to enter the House of God. Continue to Mt. Zion – visit King David’s Tomb and the Church of the Last Supper (the upper chamber). Stop to see the steps that Jesus might have walked on at St Peter in Gallicantu. (Breakfast & dinner)
Day 9 – Tue April 24 – JERUSALEM
Start the day at the Shrine of the Book, home of the Dead Sea scrolls and the adjacent Model of Ancient Jerusalem describing the city from the Second Temple Period, the time of Jesus. Travel across the city. Enter the Old city at the Dung gate, visit the Western Wall (Kotel). Then walk back in time through the unique Western Wall Tunnel Excavations. Stop to visit the pools of Bethsaida at St Anne’s church – where Jesus healed the paralytic man. Continue to the Monastery of the sisters of Zion to visit the Lithostrotos perhaps the very place where Jesus was tormented and disrobed by Roman soldiers. End the day at Yad Vashem – national memorial and Museum of the Shoah, pay tribute to the six million victims of the Holocaust in Europe during the Second World War. If you have been to Yad Vashem you may return to the hotel. Tonight the bus and guide will be available for a short evening excursion. (Breakfast & dinner)
Day 10 – Wed April 25 – OLD JERUSALEM
View the Old and new city from the Mt. of Olives, follow in the footsteps of Jesus and the Galileans walk down the hillside on the route of Palm Sunday via Dominus Flevit to Gethsemane. Visit the Olive orchard at the Church of All Nations with time for reflection and prayer. Travel across the city to Mahane Yehuda market meet with local vendors in the colourful market, OPTIONAL taste the amazing variety of food there and enjoy a superb meal. Enter the Old city, stroll through the ancient alleyways and the colourful Suk (Arab market) to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre where you stop for a short visit. Continue walking through the unique city to the Garden Tomb – remember the resurrection and worship with Holy Communion. (Breakfast & dinner)
Day 11 – Thurs April 26 – JERUSALEM
Get an early start at Ein Zurrim where you “dirty” your hands sifting through Jerusalem’s archaeological past. Walk into the Jewish quarter stop at the Broad Wall (Isaiah) and view archaeological windows into the past from the first and second temple periods in the Roman/Byzantine/Crusader Street called the “Cardo.” Then visit the Temple Mt Institute to see replicas of the instruments used in worship on the Temple. Spend the remainder of the day at leisure in this fascinating city. Return to places of interest, visit one of the many Museums in the city (modest entrance fee required); shop in the old or new city. (Breakfast & dinner)
Day 12 – Fri April 27 – THE DEAD SEA AND THE JUDEAN DESERT
Travel through the Judean Desert to Abraham’s tent in the Judean Desert for an unusual desert experience – with camel rides and Biblical tribal hospitality. Continue to the lowest point on earth at the Dead Sea – stop to visit Qumran where the Dead Sea scrolls were discovered in a nearby cave. Continue south along the shore of the Dead Sea to the Southern Alter with time for reflection and prayer. Drive north to Masada (ascend and descend by cable car) – visit ruins of King Herod’s mountaintop fortress later the last stronghold of the Jewish revolt against the Romans in 73 C.E. Visit the oasis at Ein Gedi where we remember David fleeing the wrath of King Saul. Stop at a Dead Sea beach for a unique experience – “float” in the Dead Sea – you cannot sink! Enjoy a farewell Sabbath dinner in the hotel. Meet for debriefing. (Breakfast & dinner)
Day 13 – Sat April 28 – BACK TO THE USA
Transfer to Ben Gurion airport for your Air Canada flight to Toronto. Depart Tel Aviv on the direct Air Canada flight at 11:50am flying non-stop to Toronto, arriving at 3:25pm. Continue on your Air Canada flight to Seattle at 7pm arriving at 9:24pm
